Something that stuck out while scrolling through YouTube was this video. Wow.

Kids avoiding eye contact, having the fear to be wrong, judgement-things you see everyday. How do we fix this? How do we make school a safer place? How do we get rid of the stigma that F is a failure. "In the grand scheme of life, we are all going to fail sometimes, but it does not make us any lesser. Also in the grand scheme of life, when you are old and gray, you are not going to dwell on that one time you failed a test in your introductory math class. The F you got (or might get someday) does not make you any less wonderful, intelligent or resilient. That F will be a lesson on how to change, or a chance to take a nap and then reassess, or a lesson in humility. Heck, you know what? Sometimes failing is just failing". Instead of Failure, how about Find another answer. The overwork put on students is excessive, and this gets into a habit of Math: complete 30 problems, showing all work. Science: do a worksheet, front and back. Spanish: study vocabulary for tomorrow’s test. It’s going to be a long night. For having an hour of class time I do not believe homework should surpass this time. There is another argument that people literally compare school with a prison cell. Controlled by bells, stuck in classrooms, and raising your hand when you want to speak is why people make this comparison. Some schools make you wear uniforms, prison mates are forced to wear uniforms, do you see why this is present? Simple things like asking to go to the bathroom and then getting bombarded with questions like, "why did you not go before". I ask myself if this is all because students are not trusted.
